Tasche + The Angels is a vocal quartet comprised of songwriter Tasche de la Rocha and the Angels—Joanna Tomassoni, Rachel Wolf, and Sabine McCalla. Collectively, they create a sonic infusion of Psychedelic Doo Wop, Motown, Vaudeville, Surf, and Soul, with melodic undertones inspired by mermaid and siren folklore. Having worked together since 2016, one can palpably feel the band’s musical chemistry within the haunting harmonies and intricate arrangements. Both ethereal and sinister, their sound evokes a ghostly choir. Tasche accompanies the Angels on guitar, enhanced by dreamlike analog distortion, delivered from the warm tones of a tremolo tube amp. Tasche and the Angels strike a balance between calculated precision and emotional freedom. For this performance, they will be joined by special guest Martin Masakowski on stand-up bass, anchoring the Angels’ chordal serenades through a melodic and percussive rhythm. This group celebrates synchronized stage presence, attire, and rich tone. The goal is to summon catharsis through a sonic exploration of love, laughter and tears in a reverberating environment.
