Join us for an evening of evocative soundscapes at the Marigny Opera House as the NOLA Winds Quintet presents “Echoes of the Night.” Originally conceived as a Halloween concert, this performance now brings the chilling and mysterious spirit of autumn into November, weaving together some of classical music’s most haunting and thrilling works. Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition will take you on an imaginative journey through vivid, otherworldly scenes, while Night on Bald Mountain conjures dark, supernatural forces in its ferocious energy. Rounding out the program, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre sets a playful yet eerie tone, inviting you to waltz with skeletons in the moonlight. Expect a concert filled with mystery, intensity, and spectral beauty, as we explore the twilight world between the real and the surreal.

NOLA Winds Bio:

Established in November 2021, NOLA Winds Quintet is a vibrant and diverse ensemble of musicians, composers, audio engineers, and educators. Our group is a blend of talents from New Orleans and across the country, brought together by a shared love for music. In addition to being performers, we are also artists, photographers, philanthropists, and designers, enriching the music community through our wide range of skills and perspectives.

One unique aspect of our quintet is the rotating roster of talented musicians, which keeps our performances fresh and dynamic. This flexibility also allows each member to further their own musical journey, constantly pushing the boundaries of our abilities by taking on challenging and innovative pieces. Our repertoire is designed not only to entertain but also to inspire us to grow as musicians and advance our careers.

Our mission is to make chamber music accessible to all, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, or race. By featuring original compositions from local composers, to time honored classics, we aim to expand the reach of chamber music and bring it to audiences old and new. We are also committed to increasing our presence at schools and public spaces, ensuring that more people can experience the beauty of live wind quintet performances.
