Poems, songs & music of the Americas and Africa. Featuring Kirk Joseph (sousaphone), Roger Lewis (saxophones), Herman Lebeaux (drums/percussion) & Don Vappie (banjo/guitars)!

Don Paul (vocals) and Rivers Answer Moons present ‘Make You Happy #1!’ Take a trip around the world (bop-shoo-opp!) with poems, songs, and music from the Americas, Africa, and especially New Orleans.

The performers in DPRAM have had five albums among the Top 10 Jazz albums on Radio Stations of North America since November 2020.

Roger and Kirk are co-founders of the pioneering and illustrious Dirty Dozen Brass Band. They in the DDBB and Aaron Neville won the Grammy for ‘Best American Roots Performance’ in 2023.

Don Vappie is among the Banjo Hall of Fame and won the Steve Martin Banjo Prize in 2021.

Herman Lebeaux teaches at the Louis Satchmo Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp and was Allen Toussaint’s drummer from 1995 till Allen’s passing in 2015.

Don Paul is the leader or producer of 29 albums since 1988 and is likened by David Amram to Shakespeare, Jack Kerouac, Virginia Woolf, Langston Hughes and Carson McCullers in how he ‘uses words like music.’ His work is praised by Jeannette Armstrong, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Wanda Sabir, and more. Don Paul and his wife Maryse also run the nonprofit Sticking Up For Children.

The five performers are now recording the album ‘Louisiana Stories’ for release in September 2024. Among the pieces inspired by Louisiana and New Orleans that they’ll perform are: ‘Marsha’s,’ ‘Jack Groves,’ ‘The Dreamers and the Believers,’ and ‘Maybe You See Horses.’ They’ll also visit individuals and scenes from Brasil, Chiapas, Haiti, Russia, and Tanzania. “Bob-Shoo-Opp!”

The event is finished.
