Innocence and Despair: an Evening of Duos and Trios
Fanny Friadt (violin), Chris Brown (piano) and Elise Butler-Pinkham (cello) offer a night of Innocence and Despair: Duos and Trios representing a wide range of emotions and musical styles. Shostakovitch’s Piano Trio No. 1 is an early work, full of promise and longing in a romantic style later rejected by the composer. Frank Bridge’s Miniatures seek to represent simplicity and purity. Kodaly’s Duo for Violin and Cello and Bartok’s Romanian Folk Dances pay homage to the folk music of Hungary and Transylvania. Estonian composer Arvo Part’s Spiegel im Spiegel is sparse and thought-provoking. Free to the public; suggested donation: $20.00
