PROGRAM 1: DIE SIEBEN TODSÜNDEN (THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS)

December 11–20, 2026
Composer: Kurt Weill, 1933

Composed during a period of tremendous political upheaval in Europe, this ballet chanté was Kurt Weill’s final collaboration with Bertolt Brecht before Weill emigrated to the United States. The story follows Anna I, a singer, and Anna II, a dancer—two sides of one woman determined to build a better life. Together, they travel through seven American cities before returning to Louisiana to buy a home for their family.

PROGRAM 2: LA DAMNATION DE FAUST (THE DAMNATION OF FAUST)

March 5–14, 2027
Composer: Hector Berlioz, 1846

Inspired by Goethe’s Faust, Berlioz’s sweeping dramatic legend follows an aging scholar who is drawn into a bargain with the demon Méphistophélès and becomes consumed by his desire for the beautiful Marguerite. This tragic romance explores temptation, redemption, and the devastating consequences of bargaining with the Devil.

PROGRAM 3: DIDO AND AENEAS

May 14–23, 2027
Composer: Henry Purcell, 1688

The enduring masterpiece of England’s greatest Baroque composer, Dido and Aeneas is a moving tragedy based on Virgil’s Aeneid. The story follows Dido, Queen of Carthage, and her doomed love for Aeneas of Troy.

In this production, dance and voice are inseparable: what cannot be sung is danced, and what cannot be danced is sung. Purcell’s sublime score comes alive in a landscape of movement and breath, building toward one of opera’s most heartbreaking farewells.
