BEACON, Lauren Ashlee Messina
Beacon is a story of unwavering hope, faith, and familial love based on my father’s life journey. Despite the burden of crippling health, his story is one of perseverance and perspective. “How quickly things disappear: in the universe the bodies themselves, but in time the memory of them.” -Marcus Aurelius
Music by Florence Price:
Fantasie No. 1 in G. Minor
Fantasie Nègre No. 2 in G Minor
Fantasy for Violin & Piano No. 2 in F-sharp Minor
INEVITABLE REFLECTIONS, Calvin Rowe
An investigation of the choices and cycles of love and heartbreak
Music by Benjamin Britten, “Lachrymal”
AND WHEN HE SAID…, Joshua Bell
And When He Said… blends poetry, dance, and fashion through a vignette styled narrative. Joshua explores themes of family, doubt, internalized hate, and growth in this journey to find self love. As an ode to his 20’s, Joshua seeks to embrace both the peaks and troughs in life.
Music by Michael Nyman, “Yamamoto Perpetuo”
THE GAME, Elle C Jones
The Game is a piece centered around chance, mystery, and human desires. The characters play with time, and weave the surreal through their own individual perceptions of reality. It is loosely based off of the game of “Clue”, but with an abstract twist, daringly asking the audience to question how far any person will go to get what they desire most. “How dreadful….to be caught up in a game and have no idea of the rules” -Caroline Stevermer
Music by Sam Kohler, “Harmonic Fugue”
