CARAVAGGIO is the tale of an old stray cat who makes his home amongst the jumbled buildings and crooked alleys of the port city Vanavespuccio – and the storied lives of those who feed and shelter him. Silent witness to the late night monologues of a fraying insomniac, the puzzling constructions of a beautiful miniaturist, the paranoid rampages of a woman losing her memories, and the catastrophic failure of the Travelling Cigarette Party – CARAVAGGIO is brought to life with puppets, masks, shadow puppetry, and live musical accompaniment.
String and Shadow is a theater company based in Olympia, Washington and (lately, sometimes) in New Orleans. They create giant outdoor touring puppet shows that weave together a variety of puppetry and theater styles. With copious amounts of cardboard, fabric, and paper-mache, String and Shadow’s worlds of fantasy and fable aim to pluck at the strings of universal wonder, innocence, and joy.
