Robin Sherman is a New Orleans based musician, composer, teacher and bandleader. Since moving to the Crescent City in 2014 to attend UNO for his Masters in Music, he has played bass with jazz greats such as Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson III and Jason Marsalis as well as acclaimed singer-songwriter Sarah Quintana. Following the completion of his degree, Robinhas been leading his funk group The Midnight Love Band and various jazz projects while retaining a busy schedule as a sideman, session musician, dedicated bandmate and elementary school music teacher. The Spirit of Cowboy Jim will mark his solo debut at The Marigny Opera House.

In Mr. Sherman’s words:

“Not long ago, I discovered a musical spirit named Cowboy Jim. After becoming better acquainted with him, it became clear to me that I had been chosen to share his songs with the world. It has been a dynamic responsibility, one of much laughter and joy, as well as sickness and physical exhaustion. There is indeed a price one must pay to sing the songs of Cowboy Jim. These songs, powerful statements of real felt emotion, reflect the issues that he cares about the most: love, BBQ and what it means to be a real man.

“At this special Musical Meditation, I will sing his songs with a variety of accompaniment ranging from acoustic guitar to a chamber orchestra.”

The event is finished.
