Rogue Baroque play songs of Spain
Rogue Baroque collaborates with the common purpose of playing music on instruments specific to the time and musical innovations of the Baroque and Renaissance, between 1500 and 1750. They replicate the instrumental playing techniques, as well as the size, range, and complexity specific to performing early music. Rogue Baroque is Kurt Munstedt on Baroque Violin; Thomas Thoreau on the Lute; Ben Fox on Viola da Gamba; and Lauren Oglesby as vocalist. Featuring Mahmoud Chouki (oud/guitar) and Dylan Tran (vocals).
This performance features a mix of instrumental and vocal works from often overlooked Spanish composers. Beautiful music from Spain from this period is not often played in the English-speaking world, apart from the classic Gaspar Sanz pieces for guitar, which will end the performance. Other composers include Fernando de las Infantas, Juan de Triana, Juan Hidalgo, Diego Ortiz, Juan Ponçe, and Antonio Bertali.
