Joshua Stewart | Courtney Bryan: Man Without a Home
After performances in Europe and the United States, tenor Joshua Stewart brings Man Without a Home to New Orleans for its final performance, joined by acclaimed pianist and composer Courtney Bryan.
But this is not simply a homecoming.
It is a funeral.
Man Without a Home was created out of movement, displacement, memory, and the search for belonging. Now, Stewart is home again. Living in New Orleans. Performing with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Building new work at the Marigny Opera House. Teaching masterclasses. Reconnecting with the city that made him.
The question at the center of the recital has changed.
If the man without a home has finally come home, what happens to him?
This final performance lays the program to rest.
Through classical song, spirituals, jazz, contemporary music, and works deeply connected to Black American and Louisiana musical traditions, Stewart and Bryan revisit the journey one last time before closing the chapter in New Orleans.
The evening will also be captured as a live recording, preserving the final performance of this particular recital program.
Come witness the end of Man Without a Home and the beginning of whatever comes next.
